
MIAMI (July 7, 2021) — The Miami FC jumped to third place in the Atlantic Division with tonight’s 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies at FIU Stadium in Miami. A late goal by defender Callum Chapman-Page lifted Miami FC to victory over first-placed Rowdies.
Canadian Forward Adonijah Reid had an early chance to give Miami the lead after he received a long pass by defender Paco Craig. The Canadian beat the Rowdies back line and put a shot on frame forcing goalkeeper Evan Louro to make a save to his right.
Goalkeeper Connor Sparrow was called into action in the 10th minute making an acrobatic diving stop on a powerful strike by midfielder Max Lachowecki.
As the clock approached the 21st minute, Miami FC jumped into the lead. Defender Richard Ballard pulled off a nifty move well outside Tampa Bay’s box and found space to send a cross into the far post. An oncoming Pierre Da Silva connected on the cross and sent in a low driven pass into the far post, finding an oncoming Reid for the tap in.
In the 51st minute, the Rowdies found the equalizer off a powerful header by defender Jordan Scarlett. The defender was on the end of a curling free kick by midfielder Lewis Hilton.
With the match tied up, Chapman-Page was the difference making in the 77th minute. The defender netted his second goal of the season to put the home side up 2-1 after heading home a cross by forward Cristiano François.
Miami FC now travels to face Loudoun United this Sunday, July 11 at SEGRA Field in Leesburg, VA.
