July 4th Fireworks Fun with Miami FC vs. Puerto Rico Islanders Miami, July 3, 2008 - Miami FC (3-6-7) will be facing off against the Puerto Rico Islanders in a nationally televised USL-1 battle on Fox Soccer Channel at 8pm (ET) tomorrow, 4th of July. The Blues are coming off of a heartbreaking defeat to FC Dallas (2-1) in the US Open Cup last Tuesday but will look to continue their 7-game undefeated streak within the league. Almost every sport, from fishing to football, was represented. Alex Afonso scores and Miami FC advances in the US Open Cup
Miami, June 24, 2008 - Miami looked to make history tonight and they did just that. A lone strike from Brazilian ace Alex Afonso in the 40th minute led Miami FC's first-ever 3rd round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup berth. In their short three-year history they have never made it past the second round. Tonight they knocked out the Atlanta Silverbacks 1-0 at Tropical Park Stadium.
