USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Month – September / October

The final weeks of the regular season produced some outstanding saves, which gets your vote?

The culmination of race for the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs saw more than 450 saves and 50 shutouts recorded by goalkeepers across the league, including numerous highlight reel stops. We’ve selected six of the best saves from August, now you get to vote for the one that will earn the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Month award.

Voting will continue through 12 p.m. ET on Monday, October 12

USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Month Finalists – September / October

Alex Tambakis (NC) - #BHMvNC, 9/2/20: Tambakis preserved a crucial victory for NCFC as he denied Neco Brett’s penalty kick for Birmingham Legion FC in second-half stoppage time, diving to his right to keep out the effort at BBVA Field.

Rafael Diaz (SAC) - #SACvOC, 9/9/20: Diaz got down well to his left to make a one-handed save on a shot by Orange County SC’s Darwin Jones that split two defenders from just inside the penalty area at Papa Murphy’s Park.

Matthew Freese (PHI) - #PHIvLDN, 9/16/20: Freese scrambled quickly across his goal to get both hands to a shot by Loudoun United FC’s Massimo Ferrin as part of a shutout at Subaru Park.

Ben Lundt (LOU) - #STLvLOU, 9/26/20: Lundt shifted into position well to make a crucial save that saw him turn the ball onto the right post before clearing after a header by Saint Louis FC’s Wal Fall in LouCity’s 1-0 victory.

Diego Restrepo (ATX) - #ATXvSA, 10/4/20: Restrepo exhibited ideal technique as he punched a header by San Antonio FC’s Gonzalo Di Renzo out of the left side of his penalty area to ensure no rebound chance for the visitors at Bold Stadium.

Joe Kuzminsky (CHS) - #MIAvCHS, 9/30/20: Kuzminsky produced an outstanding save to keep out a strong first-time finish by Miami FC’s Romario Williams and send it over the crossbar at Riccardo Silva Stadium.
