Oct 2, 2019

MIAMI (October 2nd, 2019) - The Miami FC announced its fourth signing of the NISA Showcase season, Matheus Silva, on Wednesday afternoon.

A São Paulo native, Silva spent time at Montverde Academy in Central Florida during his youth career before signing his first professional contract with the San Jose Earthquakes in the summer of 2015.

On March 6th, 2016, Silva made his professional debut as a substitute in a match against the Colorado Rapids. Silva went on to make five appearances with the Earthquakes before embarking on loan stints with Arizona United and Reno 1868.

Early in 2018, the Brazilian signed with USL side Swope Park Rangers. He made 16 appearances for the team and scored a goal in the Rangers' 3-2 home victory over Real Monarchs.

In 2019, the 22-year-old stayed in the USL and moved back to Central Florida, joining Orlando City B. He started 18 matches for Orlando, missing just three of a possible 1,620 minutes.

A technically gifted center back who can venture into midfield and comfortably play as a defensive midfielder, Silva's versatility will prove useful for Miami FC Head Coach Paul Dalglish's system.
