Preview: The Miami FC Closes Regular Season Against Jacksonville Armada U-23

Jul 5, 2019

MIAMI (July 5, 2019) - The Miami FC will play the final match of the regular season on Saturday night, as the Orange and Blue will host Jacksonville Armada FC U-23. The match will be held at Buccaneer Field at Barry University and begin at 7:00 p.m.

Head to Head
Jacksonville and Miami's head-to-head history can be traced back to the NASL days.

The two sides have met a total of 12 times since 2016, with Miami owning the series with eight victories. Jacksonville has won three matches against the Orange and Blue, and the only draw came during the third week of the 2018 NPSL Regular Season.

Jacksonville has scored just eight goals in those 12 meetings, as Miami has kept a clean sheet seven times against the Armada.

While Miami has played extremly solid defense against Jacksonville over the years, the offense has complemented it with 25 goals scored against their rival.

Status Quo
The Miami FC’s last match came on June 22, when the Orange and Blue hosted Naples United FC.

In a true battle for the top seed in the Sunshine Conference Playoffs, momentum swung in Miami’s favor following a 2-0 victory.

In what was a fiery and contentious match, Miami kept its cool on both sides of the ball and bounced back from a tough first half.

Goals from Dylan Mares and Miguel González ensured the three points and the eventual clinching of the top seed for Miami.

Players to Watch
Callum Chapman-Page is coming off of a Man of the Match performance against Naples United FC.

In the battle for the top seed last week against Naples, Chapman-Page was rotated into the starting lineup and responded with an outstanding match.

Chapman-Page consistently snuffed out counter attacks and was a menace in 50-50 duels, both on the ground and through the air.

The English-born center back was signed after impressing in January's Open Tryout and has wasted no time earning himself a crucial role in the team.

Hector Morales is another Open Tryout signee who quickly carved out a role on one of the best teams in the NPSL.

The 26-year-old midfielder has appeared in seven matches for Miami this season and is one of the team's top assisters with three. He also scored a lovely opening goal in Miami's 5-0 win over Central Florida Panthers SC at home.

A naturally left-footed player with great technical dribbling ability and a keen eye for creating scoring chances, Morales is a wildcard for Miami on offense whether it's off the bench or from the getgo.

Looking Ahead
The Miami FC hosts Jacksonville Armada U-23 in the Semifinals of the Sunshine Conference Playoffs on Wednesday, July 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Buccaneer Field at Barry University.

With a win against Jacksonville, MIami would then host the Sunshine Conference Final at Buccaneer Field. The opponent would be the winner of the Naples United FC vs. Miami United FC Semifinal.
