The Miami FC Announces New Home for 2019 Season

Mar 7, 2019

MIAMI (March 7th, 2019) - The Miami FC announced today that the club will play its 2019 NPSL Sunshine Conference and four Founders Cup home matches at Barry University, located in Miami Shores.

The home of Barry University's men's and women's soccer teams, Buccaneer Field saw its tenants win the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship and the Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Tournament last season. Buccaneer Field has been the destination of five NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Final Four events, and is the first site in NCAA history to host both of the men’s and women’s Division II championship tournaments simultaneously. Additionally, the facility has provided a practice home for several top international soccer clubs, including the U.S. Men’s National team, Brazilian Men’s National Team, FC Barcelona, PSG and more. College football teams participating in the annual Orange Bowl game also utilize the facility each December. With seating capacity for 1,500 guests, a premier Bermuda grass playing surface, new scoreboard and a two-story press box/concessions deck, Buccaneer Field features a state-of-the-art home venue for The Miami FC and its fans.

“We are elated to be playing our NPSL Sunshine Conference and Founders Cup home matches at Barry University,” said Miami FC CEO Sean Flynn. “In addition to being a first-class facility which has hosted multiple championship teams and events, we believe that our fans will thoroughly enjoy the match day experience at Buccaneer Field.”

The Miami FC’s NPSL home opener at Buccaneer Field will be on Saturday, April 20 against cross-town rival Miami United FC. The remaining home Sunshine Conference schedule for The Miami FC will feature matches against Storm FC on June 1, Central Florida Panthers SC on June 8, Naples United FC on June 22 and Jacksonville Armada U-23 on July 6. All home matches will kick off at 7:00 PM. Season Membership plans, which include tickets to all five home NPSL matches, are on sale now for only $25 at MiamiFC.com or by calling 844-MIAMIFC. Kids 12 and under will receive free admission to all home matches.

The NPSL Founders Cup schedule will be released later today, with The Miami FC hosting matches against Detroit City FC, Milwaukee Torrent, Miami United FC, the New York Cosmos and Chattanooga FC. The home match against the New York Cosmos will be played at Riccardo Silva Stadium at FIU.

The Miami FC has only played one match previously at Buccaneer Field, when they faced the Barry men's soccer team during the 2017 preseason. The club also hosted its second day of tryouts for its inaugural season at Buccaneer Field.
