RECAP: The Miami FC Stays Undefeated in Preseason with 3-2 Win Over Hartford Athletic

MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 23, 2019) - The Miami FC hit the road for a second-consecutive week to take on the USL Championship's Hartford Athletic. A fast paced 1st half would give away to a defensive 2nd with with Miami coming out on top 3-2.

The match got off to a cracking start as forward Mohamed Thiaw fired the opening salvo in just the 5th minute. The Miami FC's high press paid off as a wayward back pass was intercepted by Thiaw, who then dribbled past the keeper for an easy finish.

10 minutes later, a Hartford corner kick led to a scramble in the Miami FC box and ended with a penalty being awarded. Hartford's Alex Dixon stepped up to the spot and slotted home the chance to tie the match up at 1-1.

Hartford would take the lead in the 18th minute after a through ball found Dixon down the right side, who punch the ball past an on-rushing Mark Pais for his second goal of the match.

The goals would keep flowing as the Orange and Blue drew even in the 23rd minute. After earning a corner, Tomas Granitto's ensuing deliver would get headed out to the top of the box were a waiting Miguel Gonzlez unleashed a vicious volley past the frozen Hartford keeper for his second goal of the preseason.

Both sides would continue to press for a third goal but a frantic first half would come to an end with the score locked at 2-2.

The pace of the match slowed down in the 2nd half, with the Miami FC dominating possession early on.

The Orange and Blue nearly took the lead back in the 61st minute, when Robert Baggio Kcira sent in a strong cross far post, nearly picking out Brenton Griffiths who had made a great run from his center back position.

The tie would finally be broken in the 67th minute. Fresh-legged Lloyd Sam picked up the ball near midfield before dashing into the Hartford box where he easily dribbled past his defender and picked out Thiaw who slotted the chance away from is second goal of the match.

Hartford and the Miami FC would both create chances late in the match but it would be the Orange and Blue who would come out on top 3-2.
