Preview: The Miami FC 2 Hosts Little Rock Rangers in South Region Final

Jul 20, 2018

MIAMI (July 19, 2018) - Following a 2-1 victory over Atlanta Silverbacks FC, Miami FC 2 will host the Little Rock Rangers in the NPSL South Region Final. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Bobcat Field at St. Thomas University.

No Playoff Nerves
While many top seeds have crumbled in the NPSL Playoffs so far, the Orange and Blue has held its ground and played like the team it showed to be in the regular season.

Miami earned a bye in the Sunshine Conference Semifinal and easily dispatched Jacksonville Armada FC 3-1 in the Conference Final.

In the South Region Semifinal, a valiant effort by Atlanta Silverbacks FC kept the match tied through the first 80 minutes, but Miami's quality shined through when it needed to most.

A late Kris Tyrpak goal sunk the Silverbacks and catapulted Miami into the South Region Final. Despite playing in a new league with a different playoff format, Miami hasn't budged from its winning ways.

Bounce Back Mentality
As evidenced by Tyrpak's late winner on Tuesday night, Miami always seems to get a much-needed goal when the high stakes call for it.

The South Region Semifinal against Atlanta was the second match in a row in which Miami quickly gave up an equalizer after going ahead 1-0 early.

Against Atlanta, a well-worked free kick netted the decisive winner. In the Sunshine Conference Final against Jacksonville, Darío Suárez retook the lead just five minutes after the Armada buried a tying goal.

With the resolve to never hang its head after giving up a goal, Miami has the perfect identity for a team that is on a deep playoff run.

Players to Watch
Though Sean McFarlane has played just about in every position for Miami this season, he has truly found a home at right back.

McFarlane has the ideal skill set for the position, as his pace and effortless motor allows him to venture forward and track back when needed.

When pushing forward with the ball, McFarlane can beat markers with his dribbling ability and send in dangerous crosses. When in defense, he never gets beaten in a foot race and is impenetrable when in front of attackers.

In Tuesday night's South Region Semifinal victory, McFarlane drilled a left-footed volley to open the scoring, which once again showcased his immense talent and versatility.

Jeff Michaud gave a tour de force in Miami's win over Atlanta, popping up everywhere on the pitch.

Whether he was playing in through balls or chasing down opponents on counter attacks, Michaud was always in the vicinity of the ball looking to make a play.

It may not always show in the stats, but Michaud has proven to be a crucial part of coach Paul Dalglish's scheme, which relies on midfielders excelling on both offense and defense.

Looking Ahead
If Miami FC 2 beats Little Rock, the Orange and Blue would advance to the national playoffs, where the opponents and locations are yet to be determined. The next match would be played on Saturday, July 28.
