RECAP: The Miami FC 2 Beats Storm FC 7-0, Extends Unbeaten Streak

May 30, 2018

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 30, 2018) - The Miami FC 2 extended its unbeaten streak to five with a 7-0 drubbing of Storm FC on the road.

The Orange and Blue wasted no time going on the offensive, nearly getting a goal in just 15 seconds, when Kris Tyrpak got on the end of a long ball but couldn't control it in the box to get a shot off.

In the second minute of the match, Darío Suárez filtered a through ball into the path of a streaking Ariel Martínez, who had gotten behind the defense. Martínez squared his body and took aim at goal, but his finessed finish was stopped well by Storm's goalkeeper.

Forward Jaime Chávez came centimeters away from opening Miami's account in the ninth minute, when he latched onto a Martiínez pass and chipped his shot at goal. His attempt began drifting left as the ball neared the goal, and it ended up grazing the post and bouncing out of play.

That same combination would reconvene for the match's opening goal. Martínez caressed a pass to Chávez in the box, Chávez rounded the onrushing goalkeeper and tapped his finish into the goal with his left foot.

Chávez quickly earned his brace and extended the lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute, burying a near post rocket after running onto an exquisite Tomas Greco through ball that ripped apart Storm's defense.

Miami's third goal came by way of winger Kris Tyrpak, who sneaked past the defense and was found by a Tyler Polak through ball. Tyrpak crossed the goalkeeper with his shot and gave Miami a 3-0 lead in style.

Early in the second half, the Orange and Blue took someone time to break down the Storm FC defense before opening the floodgates.

The 73rd minutes Don Smart rip a close range shot to give Miami a four-goal advantage.

Six minutes later, Miami earned a penalty kick that Smart converted easily after faking out the goalkeeper with a hesitation in his run-up.

The Orange and Blue notched two more goals with the match winding down, both of which Suárez was involved in. In the 90th minute, Suárez tapped in an easy finish at the end of a smooth Smart run and pass. Four minutes later, Dylan Mares iced the match with a thundering finish from close range with the goalkeeper bearing in on him following a Suárez setup.

Miami will look to continue its win streak when it takes on Boca Raton FC on the road on Saturday, June 2. The Orange and Blue then travels to Jacksonville to take on the Armada midweek and finish its four-match road trip.
