Monday Takeaways: Record Breakers

Oct 30, 2017

The Miami FC concluded its 2017 regular season with a 2-1 win over FC Edmonton at Riccardo Silva Stadium. Miami had already broken one NASL record, but shattered three more and extended the first with the victory.

  • The Miami FC became the first team in NASL history to capture both the Fall Season and Spring Season titles.
  • The Orange and Blue's 21 wins is a new NASL record.
  • Miami's 61 goals scored throughout the season set a new league record, surpassing the 2016 New York Cosmos' 59 goals.
  • The 69 points earned by the Orange and Blue during 2017 extended its record that it had broken the previous week. That record is four points ahead of the previous one.
  • Miami FC's +33 goal differential was also the highest achievement attained in the category in league history.
  • Forward Stéfano Pinho took home the Golden Boot awards with 17 goals and goalkeeper Daniel Vega took home the Golden Glove award with a .875 GAA.

A truly incredible season has unfolded in Miami, but the job is not done yet.

The Miami FC now prepares itself for the playoffs, where it will take on the New York Cosmos in the NASL Championship Semfinal at home. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 5.
