OTTAWA, Ont. – The Miami FC made its first trip to Canada, Saturday afternoon, to take on the Ottawa Fury.

The Miami FC was confident going forward early on, creating multiple chances.

Just three minutes into the match a series of great passes found Dane Richards at the back post but his shot from close range was blocked, denying him his first goal of the season.

The Miami FC did not let up and in the 15th minute, sending the Ottawa back line scrabbling. A cross from Richards was blocked but went spinning towards the goal. A Fury defender was able to clear off the line to keep the score level at 0-0.

The Fury then started to fight back, pushing into the Miami FC half. 19 minutes into the first half it looked as if Ottawa had scored but the goal was wiped off the board by on off side call.

Six minutes later the Fury won a free kick from a dangerous position. The ball was whipped in and would bounce off multiple players before Timbó was able to put the ball in the back of the net, putting the Miami FC behind 1-0.

The Miami FC would continue to absorb pressure from the Fury but held strong in part thanks to Daniel Vega. The keeper was very active in the box and in the 35th minute came up with a breath taking full stretch save to keep the score at 1-0.

As the first half was coming to an end, The Miami FC got out on the break. Jamie Chavez played a great ball to a streaking Blake Smith. Smith was able to get on the pass in the box but a last-ditch tackle ended the attack sending Miami FC into the locker room down 1-0.

Both sides came out in the second half fast. Just a minute in, Leroux whipped in a great cross but the Fury keeper was able to get two hands on it before anyone could get a head on it.

In the 53rd minute Vega would come up with another amazing save, getting a strong hand on a ball destined to find the far corner.

After the cracking start to the second half, Ottawa fell back into a defensive shell to slow down the pace of the match.

The Miami FC would dominate possession but scoring chances would be hard to come by as the second half went on.

With six minutes left in the match, Chavez made a strong run down the right side of the box. Richards played him a great ball but Chavez’s shot would go wide.

In the final minute of stoppage time, the Fury’s Dennis Chin was able to net a goal with the Miami FC eventually falling to Ottawa 2-0.

The Miami FC is back in action, Friday, May 7 when they host the New York Cosmos at Ocean Bank Field.
