Miami, FL (February 29, 2016) – Miami FC announced the signing of Jamaican goalkeeper Lionel Brown today. The former Fort Lauderdale Striker has played within the North American Soccer League (NASL) since the start of his professional career.

“It’s great to have Lionel on board, and I’m happy he’s chosen to continue his NASL career with us,” said Alessandro Nesta, Miami FC head coach. “We welcome him to the team, and I’m anticipating some great performances as he’s delivered in the past.”

After a successful run with the Division I soccer team from the University of Connecticut, the South Florida native took his first step into the professional leagues with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers for the 2012 NASL season. Over the next three years, the goalkeeper made some key stops throughout his career with his hometown team. Notable plays include his performance against the Brazilian side Cruzeiro in 2013. Although the game ended in defeat, the goalkeeper conceded one goal during the second half of the match. In 2015, during his last season with the Strikers, one of Brown’s notable plays was his save against the San Antonio Scorpions which won NASL Play of The Week.

Player announcements will continue to be released as the Miami FC gears up for the 2016 NASL season.
