Chávez Match-Winner Named NASL Goal of the Week

Sep 6, 2017

MIAMI (September 6, 2017) – Forward Jaime Chávez’s match-winning header last week against Puerto Rico FC has been named the NASL Play of the Week.

Chavez has been on fire during the Miami FC’s five-match win streak and the hot streak continued in last Saturday’s clash with Puerto Rico FC.

In a tightly contested match up, the Orange and Blue got on the board first in the 74th minute. Defender Blake Smith pushed high up the left side of the field, eventually receiving a pass from midfielder Richie Ryan.

Smith took one touch to measure up a cross and floated it into the Puerto Rico FC box. Chávez darted in from the right side into the middle of the box, rose above the defense and headed home the ball to the far post.

This was Chávez’s fourth goal in as many matches for the Miami FC and his third match winner in the last four matches. During the Orange and Blues five-match win streak, Chávez has netted four goal and assisted on two others, accounting for six of the Miami FC’s last eight goals.

The Miami FC is back in action tonight at Riccardo Silva Stadium to take on the New York Cosmos. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Get your tickets now at or call 844-MIAMIFC!
