MIAMI (August 11, 2017) – The Miami FC closes out a three-match homestand, Saturday, August 15 against Indy Eleven. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch all the action live on the CW South Florida or beIN Sports.

So Close
The Miami FC hosted North Carolina FC last week in what would be a thrilling contest.

North Carolina controlled the match early on, taking the lead in just the 27th minute and doubled their advantage late in the match in the 72nd minute.

The 2-0 deficit did not keep the Orange and Blue down, but lit a fire under the club. Michel and Stéfano Pinho would score two goals in extra time, leveling the match in the 95th minute.

With a point within its grasp, a defensive breakdown allowed North Carolina to retain all three points with a match-winner in the 96th minute.

Home Cooking
The Miami FC and Indy Eleven have faced off five times, with the Orange and Blue owning the series lead 3-1-1.

The Miami FC posted its first-ever shutout against the Indy with a 0-0 draw late in the 2016 Spring Season.

The Orange and Blue would then go undefeated against Indy at home, picking up three wins and outscoring them 7-3.

The Miami FC will look to keep the streak going and get back to its winning ways.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Miami sports the top offense in the NASL with 36 goals scored.  The club’s offensive prowess can be attributed to its stellar passing.

Miami FC players occupy four of the top 10 spots for total passes in the NASL, including two in the top five. Defenders Hunter Freeman and Mason Trafford rank third and fourth in the NASL with 1055 and 1044 passes, respectively.

Through 18 matches, Miami FC players have created a staggering 201 scoring chances.

The Miami FC midfielders Dylan Mares and Kwadwo Poku have been at the forefront of this offensive explosion. The dynamic midfielders have each created 61 scoring chances for the Orange and Blue. Poku ranks third in the league with 31 chances created, while Mares is just behind him with 30.

As a squad, the Miami FC has attempted 9,110 passes and completed 88% of them, far and away the highest marks in the NASL.

Players to Watch
Vincenzo Rennella has been the unquestioned leader of the Miami FC’s attack and one of the best players in the NASL this season.

Rennella has also done well to not only score, but also create for others. He currently leads the league with 10 goals and five assists to go along with 22 chances created.

The French striker has not been shy about taking shots, leading the NASL with 38 and putting 26 of those on target.

All 10 of Rennella’s goals this season have come in the box, but have been scored from every conceivable angle. Six have come off his left foot, three off his right and one header.

His versatility and poise on the ball was paramount for the club’s success in the Spring Season and will be of the utmost importance for a strong Fall Season.

Mason Trafford has been a rock in defense for the Miami FC since day one.

Trafford has been a key cog for the Orange and Blue’s league-best defense. Through 18 matches, the Miami FC has only allowed 17 goals and posted seven shutouts. 2017 has seen Trafford make 60 clearances, 22 interceptions and win 31 duels.

Trafford has not only contributed on defense, but is instrumental to the Miami FC’s offensive renaissance. As the starting point for Nesta’s attack, he has completed 962 of his 1044 passes this season for a staggering 92% completion percentage.

His combination of defensive and offensive prowess will be indispensable as the season moves forward.

Looking Ahead
The Miami FC kicks off a long three-match road trip, with a Tuesday matchup against North Carolina FC. The Orange and Blue then travel to Jacksonville and Puerto Rico before returning to Riccardo Silva Stadium September 2 for a clash with Puerto Rico FC.
