Win and Advance
The Orange and Blue hosted the PDL’s South Florida Surf, Wednesday night, in a U.S. Open Cup Second Round fixture.

It would be the Surf that would get on the board first, when forward Darwin Espinal netted a goal from distance in the 21st minute.

The Miami FC would turn things around in the second half after a slow start in the first 45 minutes of action.

Midfielder Kwadwo Poku scored an equalizer in the 48th minute, heading home a Blake Smith cross.

As the Miami FC continued to attack, a great cross from midfielder Dylan Mares would take a deflection off the Surf’s Andrew Booth for an own goal in the 60th minute, giving the Orange and Blue its first lead of the night.

The Surf would score an equalizer of its own in the 74th minute, but Miami responded immediately with the eventual match winner. In the 79th minute, Smith played in another accurate cross, this time finding forward Jaime Chávez far post for an easy header.

Through seven matches, Miami FC players have created a staggering 85 scoring chances.

Blake Smith took full advantage of his 90 minutes in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup win.

The speedy midfielder was in full attack mode all night, making great runs down the left flank and playing in dangerous crosses for his teammates.

Both of the Miami FC’s goals came thanks to Smith’s left foot as he picked out Poku and Chávez far post for goals.
