Miami FC Defender Adailton Retires

MIAMI (March 1, 2017) – Adailton will retire from professional soccer ahead of the 2017 season, bringing a 15-year career to a close.

Adailton, a Salvador, Brazil native, began his career with Brazilian Serie B club Vitória in 2002 and quickly established himself as a dominant force on the backline. The following year, he helped the Brazilian national team win the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

After years playing in Europe and Brazil, Adailton made his first step into American soccer with the MLS’ Chicago Fire, making 19 appearances and one goal during his time with the team.

Prior to joining the Miami FC, Adailton recorded a career total of 12,594 minutes played and 156 appearances across the world.

Adailton saw action in 16 matches for the Miami FC, starting 12 times. He was an instrumental piece early on for the Miami FC, playing both on the backline and in the midfield, as the team looked to get a foothold in its inaugural season.
