In early August, the Miami FC traveled north to take on Minnesota United for the second time in 2016. The Miami FC would go on to dominate the match from the first whistle crushing the Loons, 4-0. The Orange and Blue set a new scoring record while earning their first ever win on the road.
After more back and forth action, Jonny Steele found room at the top of the box and fired a powerful shot. It took a deflection off a Loon defender and found the back of the net to give the Miami FC a 1-0 lead just nine minutes in.
Ariel Martinez doubled the Miami FC advantage in the 21st minute. Dario Cvitanich played a great ball to Martinez who then dribbled around the keeper and easily scored, doubling the Miami FC’s lead.
With a solid lead in hand, the Miami FC did not let up. Cvitanich used an excellent dummy run to open up the field for a streaking Poku, who finished the chance to put the Miami FC up 3-0 in just the 26th minute.
The second half would see Minnesota work hard for a goal but with no success. Both the Miami FC offense and defense were unfazed by the Loons, even adding a fourth goal for good measure.
With only nine minutes left to play, substitute Aaron Dennis received the ball in the midfield and took off on his own. He stopped his run at the top of the box and unleashed a right-footed shot that beat the keeper near post, putting the Miami FC up 4-0. This marked the first goal of his professional career.
Just like that, the Miami FC notched their first road victory in outstanding fashion. A night that fans, both home and away, will always remember!!!
