The Miami FC played its first match on the road but one week later the Club became real for the Miami FC faithful.
The Orange and Blue’s second match came against another local rival in the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Over 10,000 fans came out to the club’s first home match, making a statement about pro soccer viability in Miami.
After a concert from reggaeton superstar from Maluma the Miami FC faithful was treated to a nail-biter on the pitch.
The Club came out fast and took the lead in the 17th minute. An Ariel Martinez cross caused chaos in the Rowdies box, with the ball eventually finding its way to Cvintanich who buried it into the top-netting and sending the 10K strong in attendance into delirium.
The rest of the first half would see a resolute performance by goalkeeper Daniel Vega, including two massive saves to maintain the Miami FC advantage.
The two sides would go on to duke it out in the second half with both sides getting chances. The Orange and Blue did well to stand up to the Rowdies attack but a questionable foul call would give Tampa a penalty late in the match.
The match would end in a 1-1 draw but the massive crowd and entertaining match was a great sign of things to come for the Miami FC fans and its fans.
