The Miami FC Foundation Give Miami Day Match Minutes Saw Great Success in First Year

Dec 1, 2016

MIAMI (December 1, 2016) – The Miami FC Foundation was recently launched and it wasted no time getting involved with the local community by providing a $15,000 donation to The Miami Foundation’s Give Miami Day.

The foundation’s launch coincided with Give Miami Day where Miamians were encouraged to make donations over a 24-hour period to raise money for over 660 participating charities.

The Miami Foundation incentivizes giving on Give Miami Day by providing opportunities for charities to raise additional dollars. New this year were “Match Minutes.” The Miami FC Foundation sponsored two Match Minutes, at 7:10 a.m. and 3:05 p.m. During these minutes, every gift up to $100 received a 1:1 match until the $7,500 match minute pool was exhausted.

The 7:10 a.m. $7,500 mark was reached in nine seconds, while the 3:05 p.m. mark was reached in just three seconds. Donations made during these two minutes exceeded $100,000.

"Through our 'One Goal' mantra, we strive to be an agent of change in our community and there was no better way for us to do that than by supporting our partner, The Miami Foundation, on Give Miami Day," said Miami FC CEO Sean Flynn. "We were thrilled by the volume of donations and the dollar amounts raised at 7:10am and 3:05pm, but were more excited by the number of Greater Miami nonprofits that benefited from The Miami FC Match Minutes."

The Miami FC Foundation was created through the generous donation by Club owner Riccardo Silva, and will be managed as a philanthropic fund by The Miami Foundation, a 501(c)(3) working with hundreds of local organizations, individuals and families to steward their philanthropy. The Miami FC Foundation is part of the Miami FC’s newly launched corporate social responsibility program called “One Goal.” The vision of “One Goal” is to extend the platform of soccer to make a positive and significant community impacts through the pillars of Philanthropy and Corporate Citizenship.
