May 13, 2016

MIAMI, Fla. – The Miami FC has added experienced midfielder Richie Ryan in a trade with Jacksonville Armada FC the club announced Friday. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, per team policy.

“We are very excited to add a player like Ryan to our roster,” said Head Coach Alessandro Nesta. “He’s been very successful in the NASL and we are looking forward to him improving our squad.”

Ryan, a Tipperary, Republic of Ireland native, spent the early years of his career in the Premier Division in his home country, with teams like Sligo Rovers and Dundee United before crossing the pond.

He spent two successful seasons with Ottawa Fury FC, making 41 appearances for the Canadian side, netting four goals, and being named to the 2015 NASL Best XI.

Ryan started in all five matches so far for the Jacksonville Armada and also captained the side. The veteran midfielder now joins the Miami FC as a part of their 2016 roster. Ryan and the squad will travel to Carolina this weekend to face the RailHawks on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. After a bye week, the team returns for back-to-back home matches on May 28th and June 4th.

“I’m very happy to be here in South Florida with the Miami FC,” said Ryan. “It is a new opportunity, a new chapter in my career, and I’m ready to make it a successful one. I’m excited by the potential of this club.”
