Preview: Miami FC Ready for Road Trip to North Carolina

May 12, 2016

MIAMI, Fla. - The Miami FC are on the road this weekend for a show down with the Carolina RailHawks, Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.

On to the Next One
The Miami FC hosted the Cosmos last week. The squad created plenty of chances, but blocked shots would see the Miami FC fall to New York 3-0.

A great connection between Calvin Rezende and Blake Smith led to multiple scoring opportunities early on. Daniel Vega also came up with multiple saves to keep New York at bay.

After 34 minutes of action the Miami FC found itself behind 2-0.

The second half saw Jaime Chavez come off the bench and make an instant impact with strong runs and accurate passing. Vega also continued to make big saves throughout the second half.

When it was all said and done the Miami FC would fall to the Cosmos 3-0.

The Road is Where the Wins Are
It is supposed to be difficult to play on the road but things have been different in the NASL this season.

Last week every road team came away with three points, shaking up the Spring Season table.

To date, NASL teams have gone 9-12-8 on the road, coming away with points nearly 60% of the time.

The Carolina RaiHawks are coming off two losses, including a 3-1 thrashing by the Strikers at home.

The Miami FC will look to the league-wide trend of success on the road this Saturday.

Players to Watch
Calvin Rezende now has three professional starts under his belt and has made sure to take advantage of every minute on the pitch.

From the midfield, he is completing over 70% of his passes, has sent in eight crosses and created a scoring chance.

Rezende has been relentless on defense, battling in 55 duels and winning six tackles.

His non-stop work rate will be welcomed come Saturday against the RailHawks.

Vega has had a hard time getting his due this season. He has faced a staggering 32 shots this season and made a NASL-best 20 saves.

He has also been strong when commanding his box. Vega has picked up seven clearances, six punch outs and caught three balls.

Vega’s calming presences in goal will continue to allow the back line to grow.
